Gregor Semieniuk, economics and public policy, was quoted in The New York Times, Financial Times, and EUObserver to discuss the shock to the global energy market caused by the Iran war. In both articles, Semieniuk discusses his recent research on the profits derived from fossil fuels and its relation to inflation and inequality, stating that such price shocks tend to benefit the wealthiest 1% of Americans. In the piece for The New York Times, Semieniuk states that "most of the profits are flowing to the very affluent Americans, who are not subject to this cost-of-living crisis anyway because they’re so rich. They’re getting richer, and everyone else is dealing with inflation."
