Gregor Semieniuk, economics and public policy, is quoted in Al Jazeera on the International Energy Agency's (IEA) plans to release strategic oil reserves to stave off the fossil fuel crisis attributed to the ongoing Iran war. Semieniuk cautions that the release of oil reserves "will only buy temporary relief" if the conflict continues and that the market may have already priced in the IEA release. "If market expectations are that the reserve release cannot make up all the shortfall, it will do little to check prices beyond what it has already done," says Semieniuk.
