Ethan Zuckerman, public policy, information, and communication, has published a new column in Prospect Magazine arguing that the idea that AI technologies can only ever improve is not necessarily true. In the column, "Chatbots may not get better. Look at how search engines got worse," Zuckerman states that the perpetual improvement of AI products and models such as chatbots, which he argues is an "article of faith" of many AI proponents, may not come to pass unless serious attention is paid to how human feedback is interpreted and incorporated back into the models.
