Edinam Glymin, MPPA candidate, participated in a high-level plenary meeting of the United Nations General Assembly to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the World Programme of Action for Youth on September 25. Glymin represented Siscode Ghana, an Accra-based NGO “aiming to increase the representation of females pursuing STEM subjects and careers” by offering literacy and coding education, mentorship, and internships for promising young STEM leaders. The meeting highlighted the continued challenge of youth unemployment and the need for mentorship and entrepreneurship focused on youth empowerment.

Reflecting on her experience, Glymin said, “What stood out to me was that even at that high level, it was clear that investment in youth is essential to promote peace, stability, innovation, and prosperity of various nations. The advocacy for intergenerational collaboration is key, and hopefully, we can learn and unlearn from leaders who have navigated similar paths to better the future as growing youth.”
