In a new article for The Conversation, Carolina Rossini discusses the outcomes and fallout from two separate trials on social media and children: one in Santa Fe finding Meta guilty of violating New Mexico's consumer protection laws and the other in Los Angeles finding Meta and Google negligent in its product design as related to its social media products. The trials both saw large penalties assessed, with Meta being fined $375 million in the New Mexico case and Meta and Google fined $6 million collectively in the California case, but Rossini argues that the product changes that could be spurred by both verdicts may be the most consequential and long-term outcomes.

Rossini was also interviewed on KFI Radio discussing the outcomes of the trials. Listen to the episode here.
