Martha is co-founder and Executive Director of Latitude Global, a charity focused on advising donors and civil society organizations globally on risk management and compliance. She is a leading expert on philanthropic due diligence, having represented nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations in private practice, and as in-house General Counsel at TechSoup Global, where she led the NGOsource program for most of its first decade. Previously, Martha worked at the law firm of Adler & Colvin, where she counseled nonprofit organizations and donors. Prior to this, she clerked for the Honorable Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson, interned for Nina Totenberg at NPR in Washington, D.C., lived in Vietnam under a Fulbright grant, and worked as a freelance journalist. Martha holds a bachelor's degree from Brown University and a J.D. from UC Berkeley Law School; she is a member of both the Texas and California State Bars, as well as the U.S. Supreme Court Bar. Martha was named 2019 Outstanding Young Nonprofit Attorney by the American Bar Association, and was a 2020 Coro Women in Leadership Fellow.
