Maria Puppolo
Legal Studies Lecturer
Professor Maria T. Puppolo, J.D, M.B.A hails from Springfield, MA. She received her undergraduate degree from Mount Holyoke College, her law degree from Western New England University School of Law, and her MBA degree from Springfield College. Professor Puppolo also completed a graduate certificate in Higher Education Leadership & Management (HELM) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She has also been recognized as a Top Women of Law by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.
Maria had a diverse law practice in both civil and criminal law. Her primary area of focus was in mental health litigation, and representing individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. She currently serves as a Program Manager in the Standards Department at the Hampden County Sheriff's Office. Previously, Maria worked as an Assistant City Solicitor for the City of Springfield and as an Assistant District Attorney in Hampden County.
Professor Puppolo is a proud first generation college graduate, and truly enjoys helping students achieve their academic dreams. Maria teaches the following classes: Women in the Justice System; Mental Health Advocacy and the Law, and a course on Domestic Violence.
In her spare time, Maria enjoys spending time with her rescue beagle, Bella, traveling, teaching dance fitness classes, writing poetry and children's stories, which she is happy to report have recently been published.
