Degree/Program: Online MS in DACSS
Current Title: Marketing Analytics Manager

What is the core mission of your role, or what is a major project you are currently working on? I work in the Sponsored Ads division within Chewy’s core marketing organization, where my primary focus is increasing and optimizing marketing investment across offsite advertising channels. I use media targeting, advanced modeling, and analytics to identify opportunities for more effective advertising investment. What I find most exciting is using data to influence business decisions.
Could you share the story of how you found this position? Did a specific networking contact, internship, or program resource help open the door? I learned about this opportunity through a professional connection who worked at Chewy and thought my background and experience would be a strong fit for the role. That connection ultimately led to an internal referral, which helped open the door to the interview process.
Is there a specific skill, methodology, or lesson from your degree that you rely on to do your work successfully?
One of the biggest things I gained from the DACSS program was the ability to think programmatically when approaching complex problems. Rather than looking for a one-time solution, I learned to think about how a process could be made scalable, efficient, and repeatable. I also became more comfortable evaluating different analytical tools and methodologies and selecting the approach that is best suited to the problem at hand.
Looking back, what was a pivotal moment, favorite class, or faculty mentorship during your time in the program that directly shaped how you approach your career today? My capstone experience was particularly pivotal because it gave me the opportunity to work directly with a small business and apply what I had learned to a real-world problem. I built ETL pipelines and dashboards to help showcase the organization’s marketing performance and make its data more readily available.
If you could give one piece of advice to a student who is on the fence about starting the MS in DACSS, what would it be? If you are looking to build a strong analytical foundation while gaining experience solving real-world problems, DACSS is a great program to consider. The skills you develop can be applied across a wide range of industries and disciplines, whether you are interested in the private, public, or government sector. The program gives you the ability to work with complex datasets, approach problems from different perspectives, and develop practical skills that can translate directly into your career.
