Finding new resources crucial, says Lombardi
Taking advantage of his waning status as an "outsider," Chancellor John Lombardi used his first appearance before the Faculty Senate on Sept. 19 to offer an assessment of the campus.

Searches launched for SPHHS dean and vice chancellor for Research
The campus has begun to search for a new vice chancellor for Research and for a dean of the School of Public Health and Health Services, interim Provost Charlena Seymour told the Faculty Senate at its Sept. 19 meeting.

OIT summer initiative aimed at increasing diversity in technology
The Office of Information Technologies launched a program this summer to add diversity to its staff and the information technologies workforce, in general.

Mabee appointed state geologist
Stephen B. Mabee, assistant professor in the Geosciences Department, was recently named state geologist for Massachusetts. His appointment is part of a new agreement between the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs and the University.

Hokkaido program had boom year
The semi-annual Hokkaido Summer Program grew this year, as Asian Languages and Literature lecturer Stephen Forrest added a course and attracted a full house - 15 students.
