Richard J. Shields

Richard J. Shields, 88, of Wilbraham, a retired junior chemist in Microbiology, died Jan. 22 in Exeter, N.H.

He served the University for nearly 14 and a half years before retiring in 1979.

He also was a veteran of World War II.

His wife, Myrtie Shields, died in 2000.

He leaves four stepchildren; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at the church.
