Athletics
to eliminate 7 intercollegiate sports
The Athletic Department this week announced the
planned elimination of seven intercollegiate teams at the end of
the semester, a move intended to save $1.1 million.
Bulger seeks
10.5% hike in funding
Linking
the University system to the long-term economic vitality of the
state, President William M. Bulger this week asked lawmakers for
a 10.5 percent increase in funding for the next fiscal year.
Retirement
plan targets long-time employees
In an effort to gain more flexibility within
the campus budget, the University is offering a retirement incentive
package for employees who are eligible to retire with 80 percent
of their salary by June 30.
Memorial
planned for Barbara Burn
A memorial celebration for Barbara B. Burn is
planned for Monday, April 1, at 1 p.m. in Bowker Auditorium. A reception
in the Lincoln Campus Center will follow.
Animal
Planet host to visit campus
Jeff Corwin, executive producer and host of
a wildlife adventure show on the Animal Planet channel, comes to
campus March 24-26 as the Eleanor Bateman Scholar in Residence.
