Campus faces $15m in cuts in new budget
Bracing for a expected funding reduction of up to $15 million, campus executive areas this week began preparing scenarios for budget cuts of 5 percent for the current fiscal year.

Life sciences projects gains $5m
If there was a bright spot in the state budget approved last week by the Legislature, it was a show of support for the proposed Pioneer Valley Life Sciences Initiative with Baystate Medical Center.

Senate commissions review of athletic issues
Concerned about costs in the campus's athletics programs and their impact on academics, the Faculty Senate last week called on its Program and Budget Council (P&BC) to review issues contained in the annual report of the Athletic Council.

Kandula Sastry remembered at campus service
More than 150 people gathered for a service in memory of Physics professor Kandula Sastry in Memorial Hall on Nov. 25. He died Nov. 16 in Cooley Dickinson Hospital of an apparent heart attack. He was 66.

New online center focuses on 'supernetworks'
