Senate debates current policy on OIT fees
After extensive discussion and an amendment, a resolution supporting the eventual abolition of the optional fee for students using Office of Information Technologies services was passed by the Faculty Senate at its March 1 meeting.

Center for Agriculture approved by senate; committee formed to study ALANA issues
At the opening of its March 1 meeting, the Faculty Senate rose and stood in silence in memory of Sociology professor Andy Anderson and Astronomy professor David Van Blerkom, who had died during the previous two weeks.

Revenue enhancement on senate slate
The Faculty Senate will hear a presentation on strategies for revenue development by Food Science Department head Fergus Clydesdale, who chairs the Provost's Committee on Revenue Enhancement, on Thursday, March 15 at 3:30 p.m. in 227 Herter Hall.

Student designs bus placards for women's center
Carolyn Ruszala is an educator. A Commonwealth College senior in Women's Studies, she has spent the past three years as a counselor-advocate at the Everywoman's Center (EWC), she is applying to a graduate program in elementary education, and she has designed a new billboard to spread the word about EWC.

Two students vying for Truman Scholarships
T wo undergraduates will be interviewed March 12 as candidates for Harry S. Truman Scholarships, which provide $30,000 for the graduate education of students committed to careers in public service.

Outstanding student employees eligible for performance awards
As part of the campus's ongoing effort to encourage and reward exemplary performance by employees, Student Employment Services annually sponsors the Gerald F. Scanlon Student Employee of the Year Awards.

Reception set for departing VC
The campus community is invited to a farewell reception for Royster Hedgepeth, outgoing vice chancellor for University Advancement, on Friday, March 30, 4-6 p.m. in Memorial Hall.

Telecom telephone switch experiences power outage
Campus telephones were out of service for a short while Feb. 27 because of an unexpected power problem during routine maintenance at the Telecommunication Services main node facility.
