Chancellor David K. Scott has accepted the recommendation of the Licensing
Code of Conduct Review Committee and will order that the campus apply
for membership in the Worker Rights Consortium (WRC).

Applications Steady
Under New Admissions System
The percentage of African-American, Latino, Asian and Native American
(ALANA) students applying to the campus for the fall of 2000 has remained
virtually the same as last year under new admissions procedures announced
in January. The percentage of ALANA students accepted is also holding
steady, University officials say.

The Office of Information Technologies has been using its new virus-scanning
software to block the infamous "ILOVEYOU" virus and its variants from
entering University computers through campus mail hubs.

The Office of Information Technologies is making free virus-scanning software
available to the campus community beginning May 22, according to Kenyon

Topkapi Exhibit
Through a grant from the Palace Arts Foundation, 21 students traveled
May 5 to the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. to view the landmark
exhibition, "Palace of Gold and Light: Treasures from the Topkapi, Istanbul."

Announces Resignation
Faced with a performance review that opposed her reappointment, Boston
campus Chancellor Sherry Penney announced May 5 that she will step down
from her post in January.
Bulger
Named President and CEO
of UMass Foundation
President William M.
Bulger has been named chief executive officer and president of the University
of Massachusetts Foundation, an independent, non-profit corporation that
coordinates the University's fund-raising efforts and manages its $138
million endowment.
