Fall 2025 Teaching Assistantships
Duties: This is a dual TA/peer mentor role in which you will help with classroom and Canvas activities for Psych 103, and serve as a mentor to a small group of new Psychology majors enrolled the class to help them acclimate to life at UMass and learn more about our major. Small mentoring groups will meet weekly to discuss topics from class and engage in a variety of mentoring activities.
Prerequisites: Junior or Senior Psychology and Neuroscience majors.

Times Student Must be Available: Class time Friday 9:05-9:55, TA meetings Mondays 9:15-9:55

Duties: Lab TAs will assist with two lab sections per week; hold weekly office hours to meet with students as needed for help with research design, statistical analysis, and report writing; and attend regular TA meetings. One TA will be the Lecture TA and will attend lectures (instead of lab sections) and will assist with taking notes and running exam review sessions.
Prerequisites: A or A- in Psych 241 and 3.3 GPA or higher

Writing in Psychological and Brain Sciences Experienced Peer Reviewer: review 8-10 student drafts four times throughout the course of the semester; hold two 2-hour Writing Support Groups

Duties:
Duties for Undergraduate Teaching Assistants for this class consist primarily of attending class, taking notes, holding occasional office hours, helping proctor exams, and grading written assignments using specific grading criteria. Teaching assistantships require a commitment of 9 hours of time per week (total, including time in class) and are worth 3 college credits (pass/fail, as a TA practicum).
Prerequisites:
* Must have successfully completed Psych 370 (at UMass or elsewhere) with a grade of B+ or better
* Must have successfully completed a total of at least three psychology courses (at UMass or elsewhere)
* Must have cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
* Must be available during the time the class meets and be able and willing to stay for 5-10 minutes afterward on occasional days
