Spring 2026 Teaching Assistantships
Sponsoring Faculty Member: Carolyn Davies
Duties: TAs will attend class and take notes; hold office hours; hold review sessions; assist with classroom management; help proctor exams; grade written in-class activities; and attend weekly meetings.
Prerequisites: Must have GPA of 3.3+, have completed Psych 380 with an A or A- (either at UMass or elsewhere), and have taken at least 2 additional upper-level (200 or above) Psych courses. Priority given to Seniors and Juniors.
Times Student Must be Available: MWF 9-9:55, plus TBD times for weekly meetings and office hours.

Duties: Review & provide feedback on students drafts; attend 1-2 Optional Writing Support Groups throughout the semester to provide feedback and support to students working on their drafts
Prerequisites: Completion of Psych 337 with strong performance
Times Student Must be Available: All review of students' work is done remotely and on your own time; Optional Writing Support Groups generally take place on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the semester and from 5:30-7:30pm

Duties: TAs will attend two lab sections per week and assist with assignments in those sections, host two evening office hours (on Zoom), and attend weekly in-person meetings in Tobin.
Prerequisites: A grade of A or A- in Psych 241 is required. In addition, TAs must understand the research designs covered in Methods, be proficient with R programming (within Rmd scripts), and be able to extract and interpret results from R analyses. The ability to help a wide range of students with the course materials and lab assignments will be important considerations for these positions.
Times Student Must be Available: Mondays from 3-4 OR 4-5 pm

Duties: TAs will lead weekly discussion sections, facilitate classroom activities and exam proctoring, and assist with Canvas activities and assignments.
Prerequisites: A or A- in Psych 330; cumulative GPA above 3.0

Duties: TA/Mentors will function as teaching assistants for Psych 103, attending Friday class meetings and a weekly TA meeting, and will assist with objective grading of weekly assignment. In addition, TA/Mentors will serve as peer mentors to a small group of students in weekly mentoring meetings.
Times Student Must be Available: Class: Fridays 11:15-12:05; Weekly TA/mentor meeting: Fridays 12:15-1:10
