Research mentees will register for a 1-2 credit Research Assistantship (Psych 398B) that will primarily involve attending weekly lab meetings and shadowing a junior, senior, or graduate student mentor already established in a lab. In addition, RAMP students will also take a 1 credit seminar that meets weekly to come together as a group, reflect on their lab experiences, and discuss professional development in research.
We hope to create an accessible and transparent application process to help connect motivated students to labs throughout our department. Students within their first year at UMass, including both first-year students and transfer students, are eligible for the program, and we encourage students from underrepresented groups to apply. You may select up to three labs in your application and describe your specific interests in each of them. You can learn more about participating labs on page two of the application below.
Applications will open in mid-October and are due November 1st, and the program runs each spring. Please email Dr. Lori Astheimer with any questions at lastheim@umass.edu.
