Americans are exhausted—by our divisions, our politics, and a media landscape that thrives on tearing us apart. When asked to envision our ideal future, Americans say they want to connect and be united. But how do we get there?

Nilanjana Dasgupta, provost professor of psychology and inaugural director of the Institute of Diversity Sciences, discussed topics from her book, Change the Wallpaper: Transforming Cultural Patterns to Build More Just Communities. “Social norms, what other people around us think, what our peers think, what our parents think, what our bosses think, the roles we are in and the expectations that come with the roles, the physical environment and whose offices are next to us, whose house is next to us – all of those situational forces are nudges that push us or pull us,” she says. “Those forces end up becoming more powerful than the beliefs we have in many ways.”

In this installment of the Building Bridges in Cancer Symptom Science Webinar Series, the speakers focused on interventions for cancer-related cognitive impairment. Dr. Agnès Lacreuse discussed pharmacological interventions for cognitive decline induced by aromatase-inhibitor therapy in a marmoset model. Dr. Diane Von Ah addressed cognitive training interventions for cancer-related cognitive impairment.
