Current Position Title and Affiliation: Clinical Operations Intern at Epizyme
Summary of Position:
Epizyme is a biopharmaceutical company specializing in investigating cancer and other serious disease through epigenetic medicines. Working in the clinical operations department provides me the experience of working with the many different individuals who keep the clinical trials moving and assisting in any way possible.
Future Goals:
My long term goal is to attend a doctoral program in Addiction Neuroscience.
What do you love most about this career path?
Hearing about the many different projects being worked on is absolutely fascinating. I love being able to constantly learn new things and working in a fast paced field like this, there is always plenty to learn!
How did UMass and/or Psychological and Brain Sciences help prepare you?
Having a research background as well as a strong foundation academically through the math and science courses my degree required made me well equipped to understand the terminology and the practices being used in this field. The skills UMass provided me with helped my transition into this field immensely.
Tips for Current Undergrads:
Try as many new things as you can! Going into UMass, I would have never assumed this would have been the path I had decided to take. However, trying out different research laboratories, exploring a variety of classes, and constantly pushing myself out of my comfort zone really helped me decide what I love to do!
