November 12, 2024 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm ET
yangyang chen

Speaker: Dr. Yangyang Cheng, Particle Physicist and Research Scholar at Yale Law School's Paul Tsai China Center

When: Tuesday, November 12, 4:00 p.m.

Where: UMass Amherst (Lederle Graduate Research Center, Room A112)

Why:

Across the country, faculty and students are facing impediments to international engagement, and sometimes significant personal risk, arising from increasingly strict federal regulations. International faculty are especially vulnerable, as are Chinese American faculty and others with ties to countries experiencing strained US relations.

The good news is that here at UMass Amherst we have a strong union with the power to negotiate robust contract and policy language, ensuring that we can continue our international engagement activities and retain the support of our university if we are wrongly suspected or charged.

This event and the conversations it generates will help us mobilize our members to win the strongest possible protections for our research and our professional lives.
