Action Needed - Update on PSU Unit A Raises & Retro

December 21, 2018

On Thursday, 12/20/18, the Massachusetts House of Representatives passed an unexpected supplemental budget that includes the validation language for our Unit A contract, along with a number of other UMass and public sector contracts. This takes us one step closer to clearing the final legal hurdle in order for UMass to pay us our raises and retro.

Now we need the MA Senate to pass this supplemental budget. The Senate is holding a session Monday, December 24 and they need to hear from all of us.  Please take two minutes on Monday to call your State Senator with this message, if you are in Unit A:

"Hi. My name is (NAME), I am one of your constituents, and I work at UMass Amherst.  The Senate is considering a supplement budget (H5009), and I am calling to urge you to pass Section 22 before the holidays. This section contains the validation language for the contracts of many state workers, including myself. We have been waiting years for these contracts which include much needed raises. Please act on our contracts today by passing Section 22 of the supplemental budget."

or this message, if you are in Unit B:

"Hi. My name is (NAME), I am one of your constituents, and I work at UMass Amherst.  The Senate is considering a supplement budget (H5009), and I am calling to urge you to pass Section 22 before the holidays. This section contains the validation language for the contracts of many state workers, including members of my union. We have been waiting years for these contracts which include much needed raises. Please act on our contracts today by passing Section 22 of the supplemental budget."
