Analytics and Assessment

University Analytics and Institutional Research (UAIR) and the Assessment, Survey, and Effectiveness Research (ASER) support academic data-informed decision-making within the Office of the Provost and across the university.


AQAD - Accreditation and Program Review

The Academic Quality Assessment and Development (AQAD) process is a component of the UMass System’s Performance Measurement System and is required of all academic units. The primary purpose of the AQAD is to assess the core academic functions of teaching, learning, research/professional/creative activity, public service, and academic outreach on a regular basis.


Career Development & Professional Connections

The mission of Career Development and Professional Connections is to educate students in all phases of their career development and to empower them in making gratifying career decisions to develop and transition successfully in a diverse and global society.


Center for Teaching and Learning

CTL supports faculty and provides resources focused on student-centered teaching, course and curriculum design, faculty mentoring, intercultural competency, scholarly writing, leadership, and more.


Classroom Equity Action Plan

The Office of The Provost provides support for the Classroom Equity Action Plan along with various offices across campus, including the Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI), the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), Instructional Design, Engagement and Support (IDEAS), the Office of Academic Planning and Assessment (OAPA), and the University Analytics an Institutional Research (UAIR).

Interdisciplinary Studies

The Associate Provost for Interdisciplinary Studies oversees academic programs that are not located in a single college.


International Programs Office

The International Programs Office (IPO) provides educational abroad experiences for students and supports international students and scholars. IPO also provides vital information and resources for faculty and staff traveling abroad.


Learning Resource Center

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) offers University of Massachusetts Amherst students a peer-supported environment to meet academic challenges. Tutors, Supplemental Instruction Leaders, and ExSEL Leaders are model students trained to assist their peers in achieving academic success.

STRIDE (Strategies and Tactics for Recruiting to Improve Diversity and Excellence) workshops are intended for faculty members with an important role in faculty recruitment efforts (e.g., search committee chairs and members, and other key faculty).
