The Provost's Office and the Office of Equity and Inclusion have announced STRIDE Workshops are open for registration for interested librarians, tenure track and non-tenure track faculty members who participate in important roles in faculty recruitment efforts and search committees. Weekly workshops for the spring semester begin Feb. 21 and extend through April 18 in the Campus Center.
STRIDE (Strategies and Tactics for Recruiting to Improve Diversity and Excellence) Workshops focus on increasing faculty diversity by leading interactive small-group discussions focused on understanding and highlighting implicit biases in the faculty recruitment and retention process and providing tactics to mitigate their impact.
The two-hour faculty-led workshops review research-driven best practices to recruit for diversity and excellence across every stage in the search process. Workshops are designed to help faculty develop excellent search ads, produce diverse candidate pools, and run effective searches to attract the best applicants, develop a strong short list, manage visits, and choose and attract the best candidate.
STRIDE is required for all faculty and librarians who plan to serve on a search committee. Access to candidate files will only be granted upon completion of the training. View the Spring 2024 STRIDE Workshop schedule for more information and to register.
