About the LMS Exploration Process

The June 2021 Flexible Learning Task Force report recommended that the campus converge on a common (for all courses), IT- and IDEAS-supported learning management system (LMS), and articulated the benefits of doing so. This present recommendation begins the process of meeting that charge. A single learning management system (LMS) at UMass Amherst will provide a unified, responsive, and streamlined digital experience to our students and instructors, and enable the university to better compete in the marketplace for higher education. UMass Amherst’s strategic goals for Flexible Learning require adaptive and accessible learning platforms that meet students’ current and future needs and deliver equitable experiences to both remote and residential students.
