I’ve been using Moodle/Blackboard. How does this impact my courses for Spring 2024?

Your instructors will let you know what platform your courses will be on. Courses will be available to move to Canvas now, but it is not a requirement that your courses be taught in Canvas in Spring 2024. This will give all instructors time to transition their courses in Canvas to begin teaching by Fall 2024.

How do I access course material for a course I took during a previous semester?

Course Access goes away at the end of the semester. If you need access to a course after it has ended, you should ask the instructor of the course. Instructors can get assistance with granting access to courses by contacting the Instructional Media Lab at @email.

Is NameCoach available in Canvas? How do I use it?

NameCoach is currently available in Canvas! NameCoach is an easy-to-use tool that allows you to record and share name pronunciation with your instructor and your classmates.

NameCoach can be accessed by logging into Canvas, selecting “Account” from the left-hand menu, then clicking “NameCoach” from the drop-down menu. For more detailed instructions, please see our support article on accessing and using NameCoach.

How do I download and use the Canvas Mobile app?

The Canvas Mobile app is available on the Apple Store for iPhone users and the Google Play store for Android users. After downloading, login to Canvas using your UMass email. Once you are logged in, you can view assignments, quizzes, and discussions in all of your courses, as well as set notifications for upcoming due dates.

For more information on the Canvas Mobile app, visit the dedicated support page.
