Sundar Krishnamurty serves as Vice Provost for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Creativity at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He received his B.S. from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, his M.S. from the University of Pennsylvania, and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Krishnamurty has held the title of Ronnie & Eugene Isenberg Distinguished Professor in Engineering since 2020. He currently serves on the Economic Development Leadership Team and holds the position of Lead Faculty for the NSF I-Corps Hub Northeast Region program. Prior to this role, he was Principal Investigator (PI) for the NSF I-Corps @ UMass program from 2021 to 2025 and Site Director for the NSF I/UCRC Center for e-Design from 2012 to 2023. From 2015 to 2025, Krishnamurty served as Department Head of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering, having previously held the roles of Interim Department Head and Associate Department Head. He also served as Associate Director of the Center for Personalized Health Monitoring (CPHM) and Director of the Advanced Design and Fabrication (ADDFab) Lab from 2015 to 2020.

Krishnamurty is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He was inducted into the 2024 Class of Senior Members of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) and received the 2022 Excellence in Research Award from ASME’s Computers and Information in Engineering (CIE) Division.
