UMass Amherst PSE Graduate Student, Michelle Gross, attended her first American Chemical Society (ACS) national meeting, where she was recognized for her research on sustainable polymer design. Supported by a travel grant from the ACS Women Chemists Committee and Eli Lilly and Company, Michelle presented her poster, “Ultrasound-Driven Bond Exchange of Allyl Sulfides for Sustainable Polymer Design,” which was selected as the Best Poster in her session by the ACS Division of Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering (PMSE). Michelle emphasized the importance of engaging with scientists from both academia and industry and noted that the recognition will further inspire her ongoing research efforts.
