Peer Advisors are upper-level Political Science students who are well-trained in the academic requirements for the major. They offer you not only technical information, but also an invaluable student perspective. Peer Advisors will not tell you which classes to take or avoid, but they can help you think about your interests and design a course schedule that serves your needs.

Meet the Fall 2025 Peer Advisors

Angelique Ferguson
Hi, I'm Angelique! I am a rising Senior Political Science major with a minor in Afro-American Studies from the Bay Area in California! I most enjoy helping my communities and meeting new people, which is why I am excited to be a Peer Advisor and plan to pursue a career in public service. Outside of being a Peer Advisor, I am also a member of the WMUA radio station, a research assistant for an Economics Department lab, and have an on-campus job. I can't wait to spend my last year at UMass helping you all!

Linda Toromo
Hi! My name is Linda, and I'm a senior majoring in Political Science with a minor in African American Studies. I’ve been a peer advisor since my sophomore year, and I’m excited to be working with you all through navigating college, course planning, finding resources, and making the most of your academic experience. Outside of peer advising, I’m an RA, a First-Year Seminar TA, and I participated in the SBS in D.C. program, which deepened my passion for civic engagement and policy. I’m always happy to share what I’ve learned along the way. Stop by at any time!

Urja Dhami
Hi! My name is Urja, and I am double majoring in Political Science and Legal Studies. I am so excited to be a peer advisor for the department because I want to be able to share my perspective with students and help them out with any questions they have. Aside from peer advising, I do many other things on campus, like SGA Leadership, Kappa Alpha Pi, and I am also the treasurer of UMass Jazba. If you have any questions about anything, please feel free to drop by or reach out, and I will be happy to answer whatever comes my way. Can’t wait to see you guys!
Peer Intern Program
Prior to becoming a peer advisor, students spend a semester as a peer intern, for which they earn one academic credit. Interns attend weekly staff meetings, observe peer and staff advisor appointments, learn about major requirements and department/campus resources, and participate in department programming.
