Congratulations to Tegan Oliver on having her thesis published in the London School of Economics Undergraduate Political Review: "Socialized for Success: Exploring the Relationship Between Gender and Political Ambition Among Undergraduates Authors."
This research investigates the relationship between gender and political ambition among undergraduate students. Women are underrepresented in political leadership, not because they lose elections but because they are less likely to run. The study surveys 696 undergraduates at UMass Amherst to examine if this ambition gap exists at the undergraduate level across both politics-related and unrelated majors. Results show that women have lower political ambition than men, regardless of major. The findings contribute to understanding the ambition gap and aim to inform programs encouraging women, especially undergraduates, to pursue political careers.
