On February 28, Tatishe Nteta was awarded the 2025 Black Excellence on the Hill Award by the MA Black and Latino Caucus nominated by by Rep. Lindsay Sabadosa.

Professor Nteta is a nationally recognized scholar in public opinion and political behavior, with a research focus on race, ethnicity and the evolving landscape of American politics. As Provost Professor of Political Science and Director of the UMass Poll, he has dedicated his career to analyzing how demographic shifts and the political engagement of racial minorities shape public opinion, policy preferences and electoral outcomes.

His work has been published in leading peer-reviewd journals, including Public Opinion Quarterly, Political Behavior, Political Psychology and Political Communication. His insights have also been featured in major media outelts such as The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, NPR, Vox and Fox News, further amplifying his impact on public discourse.

Dr. Nteta's hold a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkley and a B.A. in Afro-American Studies and Government & Politics from the University of Maryland.
