Title: Intern

Location: The Strathdee Group

How did you find the internship? Through The Washington Center

What was your role?

During my internship at The Strathdee Group in Washington, DC, I supported the firm’s political and legal operations through research, analysis, and event coordination. I conducted in-depth legal and political research, compiling daily press summaries and managing data using tools such as Excel, NGP, and FEC databases to track relevant developments. I also drafted detailed memorandums and biographies for elected officials, providing insights on key events, legislation, and stakeholders. In addition, I assisted in planning and coordinating political events, helping ensure compliance and facilitating smooth collaboration among officials, lobbyists, and PACs. This role taught and strengthened my analytical, writing, and organizational skills in a fast-paced political environment.

How did your Political Science courses help you?

My Political Science coursework provided a strong foundation that directly supported my work during the internship. Classes like Political Psychology and American Politics helped me better understand the behavior of voters and elected officials, which was essential when conducting research and drafting memorandums. These are some of the courses that enhanced my critical thinking, research, and writing skills, enabling me to contribute effectively in a fast-paced political environment.
