Title: Asset Management Pre-COD Intern
Location: Geronimo Power (formerly National Grid Renewables)
How did you find the internship?
I found and applied to the internship using Handshake.
What was your role and/or what did you learn?
Geronimo Power is a utility scale wind and solar developer and operator. There are always new sites in construction that require management even though they aren’t operational yet. My role is to help oversee that pre-operational process, including construction milestones, financial performance, and contractual compliance. I've learned a great deal about the life cycle of utility projects, from development to operation, and the importance of stakeholder management. Given the current backlash at the federal level towards renewables, it's been particularly interesting observing firsthand how the industry navigates that uncertainty.
How did your Political Science courses help you
My Political Science courses deepened my understanding of regulatory frameworks, policy dynamics, and stakeholder interests, which is invaluable in navigating the complex world of project development and the energy landscape as a whole. I am also grateful for the way Political Science sharpened my communication skills, an ability that's been invaluable for written reports or when I need to convey complex information to the rest of the team.
