UMass PoliSci Students Host Forum with Amherst Town Council Candidates
Candidates for Town Council in Amherst will participate in a forum moderated by members of the University of Massachusetts Amherst chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the honor society for political science majors, on Monday, Oct. 27, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., in the Events Hall of the Commonwealth Honors College at 157 Commonwealth Ave. The event is free and open to the public.
Pre- and post-event receptions will be held from 6 to 6:30 and 8 to 8:30 p.m., respectively.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity for students to engage in local, democratic politics, and also serves to foster communication and collaboration between the Town Council and the university,” says Regine A. Spector, associate professor of political science and chapter advisor.
The forum is being organized with the help of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, the Department of Political Science and the Graduate Student Council of the School of Public Policy at UMass Amherst.
The deadline to register to vote in the Amherst election is Friday, Oct. 24. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4.
