Bio
Professor Maria T. Puppolo, J.D, M.B.A . is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College where she was a pre-med student. She later decided that a career in law best suited her interests. She graduated from Western New England University School of Law which is located in her hometown of Springfield, MA. Professor Puppolo also completed a graduate certificate in Higher Education Leadership & Management (HELM) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Maria had a diverse law practice in both civil and criminal law. However, her passion was focused on mental health litigation, assisting individuals with mental health and substance use disorders, because she felt like they were so shunned from society. She currently serves as a program manager at the Hampden County Sheriff's Office where she works in the Standards and Compliance Department. Previously, Maria worked as an Assistant City Solicitor for the City of Springfield and as an Assistant District Attorney in Hampden County.
Professor Puppolo is a proud first generation college graduate, and truly enjoys helping students achieve their academic dreams. Maria teaches Women in the Justice System; Mental Health Advocacy and the Law, and a course on Domestic Violence.
In her spare time, Maria enjoys spending time with her beagle, Bella, traveling, writing poetry and children's stories, which she is happy to report have recently been published.
