Kevin Henderson is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Kevin holds the Graduate Certificate in Feminist Studies from UMass Amherst. He has taught classes in the past on the history of sexuality and race, on Judith Butler and political theory, on queer feminist theory, and on gender, sexuality & the law. Broadly, Kevin's academic interests include: contemporary political theory, the history of political thought; queer, feminist, and critical race theories; protest and social movements; sexual politics; gay and lesbian studies; and the regulation of sex and intimacy. His public scholarship has appeared in the Boston Review and The Abusable Past.
In 2016, Kevin was awarded the Pi Sigma Alpha Best Teaching Assistant Award. This award is voted upon by all political science and legal studies majors at UMass Amherst for teaching excellence. Kevin was also the ViiV Point Scholar from 2016 to 2019. In 2016, out of an applicant pool of almost three thousand students, Kevin and twenty-one other individuals were chosen to become Point Scholars. Point Foundation provides scholarships to students that have demonstrated academic achievement, leadership, and involvement in the advancement of the LGBTQ community.
