Congratulations to Plant Biology graduate student Logayn Abushal, who received a ROOT & SHOOT Travel Award from the Root and Shoot Research Coordination Network to attend Botany 2026 in Tucson, Arizona.
The award supported Logayn's presentation of research that was recently published in Plant Methods. The study describes a hydroponic cultivation platform for the analysis of grass nodal root development, hormone responses, and secondary cell wall thickening in Brachypodium distachyon and wheat. The platform provides a reproducible system for studying shoot-borne root development and the effects of phytohormones on root anatomy and cell wall properties.
