Are you interested in modern research-based ways of teaching physics? Are you interested in getting a deeper understanding of how physics can be applied to chemistry and biology? Join the team as an undergraduate TA for Physics 132 for the Spring 2025 Semester.
Requirements -The successful applicants will:
- Be undergraduate students at UMass Amherst. Graduate students are ineligible for this position due to restrictions on the funding stream.
- Have completed one of the following courses (or their equivalent at another institution):
- Physics 132 (physics II for life science students).
- Physics 152 (physics II for engineering students)
- Physics 182 (physics II for astronomy and physics students).
Responsibilities
- Attend all meetings of one of the two sections of 132 (3hrs per week):
- Four undergraduate TAs are needed for the 9:05 - 9:55 section with Dr. Toggerson
- Three undergraduate TAs are needed for the 10:10 - 11:00 section with Prof. Brau.
- Attend a 1 hour weekly meeting at a time convenient to all the members of the teaching team.
- Hold two help hours per week of your choosing in the physics help room (Has 115).
- Hold two help hours per week on the class Discord.
- You will also have two hours per week of preparation time to ensure you are coming to class prepared.
Compensation: The position is 10hrs/wk and pays $15/hr with additional pay for experience. Credit is also available as an option.
