In memoriam: Toichiro Kinoshita
Prof. Toichiro Kinoshita passed away in his home in Amherst 23rd March 2023. He held an adjunct appointment in our department since moving to the area after his retirement from a long and distinguished faculty career at Cornell University. He was known for his detailed calculations of the anomalous magnetic moment of the electron and the muon, and the hyperfine structure of muonium, that allowed high precision tests of quantum electrodynamics and electro-weak theory. Prof. Kinoshita was a member of the National Academy of Science and received the JJ Sakurai Prize of the American Physical Society in 1990.
