Assistant Professor Shuang Zhou was recognized with a prestigious NSF CAREER award. The CAREER award is 'in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education...' His research program explores many new aspects of dynamics in chiral liquid crystal systems, ranging from locomotion of microbes through chiral liquid crystals, to large-scale dynamics of the material. This builds upon work pioneered by Shuang in his earlier research in creating bio-compatible liquid crystalline environments known as 'living liquid crystals'. Congratulations, Shuang!
