The talk of UMass Physics major, Ruixi Lou, at the American Physical Society's meeting of the Divison for Fluid Dynamics was highlighted for press coverage by the organizers.

The work was done as part of a senior thesis in the lab of Physics faculty colleague Varghese Mathai.  The research involved the very topical issue of airborne viral transmission while waiting in a line.  Ruixi's work this summer was funded through the new Langley Fund for Future Physicists endowed by the family of former Physics Prof. Ken Langley.   Another undergraduate from Mathai's lab, Aaron Fishbein, won an APS travel award to present his work at the DFD meeting.
