Grants for Travel and Research

Graduate students planning to present a paper at a conference or attend a workshop may apply for travel funds through the department using the Travel Grant Application Form.

You may be eligible for one or more of these Fellowships and Research Grants offered through the university.

Whether you plan to go into industry, government service, or academia, learning to write a grant application is an important part of any scientist's training. Individual faculty members and the Office of Professional Development are here to help; please make use of these resources and apply!  

• The OPD's Grants and Fellowships Page offers a variety of workshops, seminars, and tools for finding and applying to the right fellowship for both U.S. and international students.
• For U.S. students in the early part of their graduate program, the NSF's Graduate Research Fellowship Program is highly recommended!
• For U.S. students and permanent residents involved in research aligned with the Department of Energy's Office of Science Research Programs, their Graduate Fellowship Program is also highly recommended.
