Emergent causality and gravity – a visit to the swamp

I will discus a few recent calculations in theories with higher derivatives which end up presenting a very different option for physics at high energy. One feature is that causality may differ from what we see at low energy. Another is that gravity can remain weakly coupled at all scales, including beyond the Planck scale.  We may already be considering such a theory.
