Delamination Driven by Active Surface Topography
Enrique Cerda, Universidad de Santiago de Chile
It is well known that bending or twisting a flexible surface can induce the separation of an attached foulant layer. In this work, we investigate the underlying delamination mechanism and show that detachment occurs only when the evolving surface topography satisfies specific geometrical conditions. These conditions depend sensitively on the stiffness of the foulant layer, revealing how geometry couple to material properties to drive delamination.
