ACFI Workshop - Black Holes and Horizons in Quantum Gravity

Overview
Black holes and cosmological horizons have motivated formal developments in quantum gravity for half a century — centered on the thermodynamics of black holes and cosmological horizons, the holographic principle, microstate counting, the information paradox, the relationship between spacetime geometry and entanglement, the gravitational path integral, algebraic approaches to observers, and constraints on effective field theory. This three-day workshop brings together researchers from across the region to examine the role of black holes and horizons in a range of topics in quantum gravity and string theory: the swampland, holography, de Sitter spacetimes, von Neumann algebras, and the quantization of gravity in low dimensions.
