PHY-139: Introduction to Physics
A comprehensive introduction to physics. Discussion of fundamental principles: numerous examples of practical applications. Topics include forces, motion, energy, heat, fluids, electricity, magmetism, light, and the atom. High school algebra required and used freely. Note that P139 is a 4 credit course which carries GenEd PS credit, while P139NG is a 3 credit version intended for natural resources and certain other majors interested in a quantitative one-semester course. P139NG does not carry GenEd PS credit. Does not replace Physics 131-134 for science majors.
P139 is currently not being offered. Most majors that previously required P139 use P100 or P131 to satisfy the physics requirement for their major.
