Kourken Michaelian (PhD 2009) wins Fast Start Grant

Kourken Michaelian, who received his Ph.D. in philosophy from UMass in 2009 with a dissertation on memory and testimony, has won a Fast Start grant from the Marsden Fund. This fund is administered by the Royal Society of New Zealand. Michaelian’s award of NZ$300,000 will fund a three year project titled, “Remembering Together: Collective Memory and Collective Intentionality.” Professor Michaelian teaches at the University of Otago. He has written widely on memory, testimony, and related topics in epistemology. He is the author of Mental Time Travel: Episodic Memory and Our Knowledge of the Personal Past, MIT Press, 2016.
