Formal Fridays
ILC N400

Cailin O'Connor (LPS, UC Irvine) gives a master class on evolutionary game theoretic models in preparation for her Formal Fridays talk the following day.

Title: Dynamics of Inequity

Abstract: Why do some people get more and others get less? In this presentation, I show how simple evolutionary game theoretic models can help illuminate the emergence of inequitable conventions. As these models show, social categories can act as symmetry breakers that allow patterns like “men get more and women get less” to culturally evolve.
