These days our country feels more divided than ever, but that doesn't mean we can't have friends with different viewpoints. With Chandra Whetstine (One America Movement), we will learn why it is hard to broach difficult subjects, and we will practice talking about those topics in small groups.

Chandra DeNap Whetstine serves as the One America Movement’s Senior Director of Programs and Operations, leading the development and implementation of the chapter model which brings people together across political, racial, and religious divides to take action on issues that matter in their communities. Chandra supports the development of strategic partnerships with other non-profit and faith-based organizations as well as community and corporate leaders to further maximize the impact of One America’s work and oversees all internal operations that keep the One America Movement ticking.

Prior to joining One America, Chandra spent 12 years in international development specializing in work with marginalized populations including women and girls, people with disabilities, child laborers, and trafficking victims in over a dozen countries. She joins One America from World Vision, where she served as Senior Technical Advisor for Disability and Project Director for a 5-country, $10 million USAID-funded project. She has also worked at the US Department of Labor’s Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor and Human Trafficking and the United Nations Development Programme in Bhutan. Chandra holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre, a Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Relations, and online certificates in Women in Leadership and Diversity and Inclusion from eCornell. Chandra lives with her husband, mother, and three sons in Alexandria, VA where she serves as co-lead of the Worship Support Team at Hope United Church of Christ. She is also a trained birth doula, recovering theater professional, and proud Returned Peace Corps Volunteer.
