If so, is there an explicit neural network (either natural and artificial) that supports this effect? If not, is there some moderating system that links these two cognitive processes together? My research aims to answer these questions. Specifically, I am interested in using cognitive modeling and machine learning techniques in both neuroimaging and behavioral experiments to explicate the role of lower-level cognition--namely, working memory--in higher-level decision-making processes.
