My research interests focus on the diversification of flowering plants, the inference and interpretation of phylogenetic histories, the impact of hybridization on plant speciation, and the study of selective pressures (often mediated by plant-animal interactions) on the evolution of floral traits. In my research I both examine relationships (plant systematics) and utilize these hypotheses of relationships to better understand relevant ecological and evolutionary processes. I have broad training and experience in the field, greenhouse, laboratory, and herbarium. The tremendous biodiversity of angiosperms provides endless questions related to speciation, biogeography, and interactions.
